Honor says: “I value that you are created by God and I appreciate our differences in gifting, calling and ideas.” Honor says “you were created by God and He is responsible for you. Yet I can help you and aid you, but I do not own you.” (Ps 55:22; Nah 1:2; Act 10:4; Rom 11:29; 1 Cor 12:1-31; 2 Cor 9:9; Eph 4:8; Eph 5:29; 1 Pet 5:7)
Honoring others can mean verbally expressing appreciation, and encouragement to them. (1 Cor 4:2; 1 Cor 9:17)
Honor means that no matter what happens, I will be kind to that person. I will do no evil to them, no matter what. That is honor. Honor is to avoid slurs and slanders and false accusations. (Ps 86:5; Prov 11:17; Prov 12:25; Prov 14:3; Lk 6:29; 1 Cor 13:4; Eph 4:32; 1 Thess 5:15-22)
While trust in another person must always be earned for not all people are trustworthy, honor still abides in the practice of not doing or speaking evil against someone. A key way to honor someone with different belief systems or political policies is to disagree with their beliefs and platforms, but speak no evil of them. Separate out their belief systems from them.
Honor is a place of extreme protection. To honor God and others is vital for God’s protection to be on oneself.
Honor brings extreme favor as well. Where there is honor, there is also favor.
Favor and honor abide together in God’s economy. To honor God is to bring honor to your own life, because honor to God is a replicating force.
Those that honor God receive honor. Honor begets honor. Love begets love and honor begets honor. (Job 33:26; Ps 30:5; Ps 90:17; Ecc 11:2; Lk 2:52; Act 7:46; Rom 2:6-7; 1 Tim 5:3)
Those who honor Me, will I honor, but those who despise Me will be disdained! 1 Samuel 2:30
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Galatians 6:7-8
As you honor God wholeheartedly, watch God open the heavens over your life. You will receive honor. It is a promise. (Deut 6:38; Deut 28:12; Is 24:18)
HONOR
1) Honor your mother and father that all will go well with you. (Ex 20:12; Mt 15:4; Lk 18:20)
Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this right. “Honor your father and mother” – which is the first commandment with a promise – “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
(Ephesians 6:1-3)
2) Honor God with your whole heart.
The people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.
(Isaiah 29:13)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“This Scripture deals with those who only call out to Me when they are in trouble or need something. They are not Mine wholeheartedly because they only seek Me when they need something. They do not seek Me and inquire of Me. I would ask them to serve Me wholeheartedly, set aside idols and false gods and vain and empty pursuits. Jesus said: “You cannot serve two masters.” Serve God and God alone with a whole heart, a submitted heart, a loving heart. God is love.” (Mt 16:24)
3) Honor God by keeping the Sabbath as a day of rest and worship to Him.
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (
Isaiah 58:13)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“Many people spend no time with Me, let alone on the Sabbath. Forsake the meeting together with other believers. By obeying Me, I am honored and I can then honor your lives to the fullest measure.” (Heb 10:25)
4) Honor God by serving Him and Him alone.
“But, you Belshazzar, his son, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this. Instead you have set yourself up against the Lord of Heaven. You had the goblets from His temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in His hand your life and all your ways. Therefore, He sent the hand that wrote the inscription. “This is the inscription that was written: Here is what these words mean: Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” (Daniel 5:22-24)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“Honor comes when one recognizes and appreciates that I am the God of Heaven and earth and bring blessings to all. All that is good comes from My hand. I am the God who rules and reigns in dominion, power and authority. All who raise themselves up against Me, or claim to be god, will be humbled. I am always able to humble the prideful. I am God and God alone.”
(Job 23:17-18 Ecc 9:11; Dan 4:37; Mt 5:45)
God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes. (Heb 13:8)
5) Honor God by recognizing God is holy and the just Judge.
“And now, you priests, this warning is for you. If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor My name,” says the Lord Almighty, “I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not resolved to honor Me.”
(Malachi 2:1-2)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“This passage speaks of My all-knowing ability and My power to bring justice. I cannot protect what is not offered to Me. If priests and people alike refuse to obey Me, I cannot protect them and curses fall. These curses increase until death and destruction is fully established. Honor Me and My Word. Honor is the act of reading My Word and obeying it to the fullest measure. The path of receiving honor is to serve, follow and obey Me. This brings extreme honor.” (Job 11:11)
“ Remember your adversary, the devil, testifies against you, bringing to Me, your rebellion, your waywardness, your refusal to walk in My ways and by this – My covering. He knows the Word better than you! Let that not be so. Know and follow My Word. This is to your great benefit. I want to bring you fully under My covering, but it is a choice. Choose life. Choose obedience.” (Josh 24:15; Rev 12:10)
Whoever serves Me, must follow Me; and where I am, My servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me. (
John 12:26)
6) Honor God and others and receive honor.
God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.
(Romans 2:7-12)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“This Scripture makes it clear. Honor comes to those who obey Me and walk in My ways of honor and love. Honor begets honor. Honor God and receive honor from God.”
7) Honor others by praying for their salvation and an increase in the sensitivity of their consciences toward God.
Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorable in every way.
(Hebrews 13:18)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“This is the kind of prayer to pray for pastors, leaders, men and women in positions of government and the Bride. Pray that all live honorable lives and then have a clear conscience. Pray that their conscience is governed by Holy Spirit and that their consciences are tender to God. A seared conscience is the most dangerous mindset. It does not allow for remorse or repentance. It is a hellish existence and it leads to eternity in hell.” (1 Tim 4:2)
“‘Make an altar of earth for Me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause My name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.’”
(Exodus 20:24)
8) Honor God by worshiping Him as a submitted, humble vessel.
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“This Scripture signifies that I desire worship. Worship, honor and reverence of My name brings glory – My Presence. An altar of sacrifice is a place of repentance. Keep always a repentant heart that I may fully establish Myself in your life. A hard, unrepentant heart closes off My blessings.” (Ex 7:13; Zech 7:11-14)
9) Honor God by walking in His ways and in holiness.
Moses then said to Aaron, This is what the Lord spoke of when He said: “’Among those who approach me I will be proved holy; in the sight of all the people I will be honored.” (Leviticus 10:3)
The Spirit of the Lord says:
“This speaks to My holiness and greatness. I desire holiness of My people. I desire obedience. If I ask for something, do it. This will be your best protection and will bring great and extreme blessings to you and your household.” (Job 22:21-28)
